Spotted a "Power Failure" alert on your tracker? Before you start worrying, take a deep breath! This alert doesn't necessarily mean your device is kaput or that you'll be left in the dark. In fact, it's often just a temporary hiccup that your tracker experiences as it goes about its day-to-day operations. Let's dive in and demystify this alert, so you can keep on tracking with confidence.

What's Causing the Alert?

Power Failure Alerts are generally triggered from reboots. Here are a few different scenarios that could trigger a Power Failure alert, which is no cause for concern:

  1. Rebooting Routine: Just like your computer or phone needs an occasional restart, your tracker has to reboot itself from time to time. When it's doing its little reboot routine, you'll see a Power Failure alert, but it's nothing to worry about – your device is just taking a quick breather before getting back to work.

  2. Cellular Signal Interruption: Your tracker relies on cellular signals to keep you updated, just like your phone does. But sometimes, it might need to switch from one cell tower to another, or it could be in an area with spotty coverage. In situations like these, your trusty device might reboot itself to establish a stronger connection, leading to a temporary Power Failure alert.

  3. GPS Signal Interruption: Occasionally, your tracker might have trouble pinpointing its location using GPS. When this happens, it could decide to reboot and try again to get a better fix on its position, which will trigger the Power Failure alert for a little while.

No Need to Worry

If you’re using an OBD or Road Wired tracker, generally the Power Failure alert doesn’t indicate any issues with the wiring or power source. It’s simply letting you know about a momentary blip in the tracker’s operations, not a problem with the installation.

The Bottom Line

While a Power Failure alert might seem concerning at first, it's often just your tracker keeping you in the loop about a brief interruption. Unless the alert persists or you notice other issues, there's no need to panic – your device is still hard at work, keeping tabs on your assets or loved ones.
