Experiencing difficulties with your tracker not updating or reporting its location? Don't worry, we're here to help! In this guide, we'll provide troubleshooting steps to identify and fix the problem. Let's get started!

Potential Causes

There are several factors related to network and device location that can cause inconsistent signal strengths, including:

Placement

The location of the tracker can significantly affect signal strength.

Lack of cell coverage

If the tracker is in an area with poor cellular coverage, it may struggle to connect and update.

Cell tower traffic

When a cell tower has too much traffic, it can delay or prevent the tracker from updating.

Maintenance by the cellular carrier

Occasionally, cellular carriers may perform maintenance on their networks, which can temporarily disrupt service.

Speed of the tracker/vehicle

If the tracker or vehicle it's attached to is moving very quickly, it may struggle to maintain a stable connection.

Stationary for a long time

If the tracker is parked or stationary for a prolonged period, it may not update its location.

Please note that some issues, such as cell tower operations, are beyond our control. Many tracking issues are temporary and will resolve themselves when the tracker moves to a new location.

Troubleshooting Steps

To resolve tracker location update issues, follow these steps based on your tracker model:

Mobile 200g

  • Charge the device: If the device is in your hand, make sure it's not dead by pressing the SOS button. All lights should flash briefly and then go out, confirming the device is on.

  • Check the tracker's location: Ensure the tracker is not obstructed (in an indoor location, engine bay, or the trunk of a vehicle). If possible, take the tracker outdoors for a few minutes to get the optimal cell/GPS signal while the device is turned on.

  • Take the device for a drive: Occasionally press the SOS button to force the device to report its current location.

  • Power cycle the device if needed: Here's a guide on how to power cycle your tracker

Protect Plus

  • Charge the device: Press the button on the top of the device. The blue LED lights should flash, confirming the device is on.

  • Check the tracker's location: Ensure the tracker is not obstructed (indoors, engine bay, under a seat, the trunk of a vehicle). Take the tracker outdoors for a few minutes to receive the optimal cell/GPS signal.

  • Power cycle the device if needed: Refer to this guide on how to power cycle your tracker

Car Charger Tracker

  • Ensure the device is getting power: When the vehicle is on and the device is plugged in, there should be a red LED present, indicating the device is receiving power. If there is no red light, try using another vehicle.

Micro 431 or Pocket Tracker

  • Charge the device: If the device is in your hand, hold the SOS button until the device vibrates and LEDs light up to ensure it's not dead.

  • Check the tracker's location: Make sure the tracker is not obstructed (indoors, in an engine bay, or in the trunk of a vehicle). If possible, take the tracker outdoors for a few minutes to receive the optimal cell/GPS signal while the device is turned on.

  • Force a report: Take the device outside and hold down the SOS button until the device vibrates and all LEDs appear to force a report.

  • Power cycle the device if needed: Refer to this guide on how to power cycle your tracker

Road-wired Tracker

  • Ensure the device is getting power: Check if the red LED is visible when plugged in, confirming it is receiving power. If the red LED isn't visible, uninstall and reinstall the wiring harness to ensure the device is properly connected to a power source. If the device is still not getting power, try installing it in a different vehicle.

  • Check the tracker's location: If the device is plugged into a vehicle that is in a garage, the signal could be obstructed.

  • Power cycle the device if needed: Here's a guide on how to power cycle your tracker

Asset 432

  • Check for obstruction: If the device is in your hand, confirm the tracker is not obstructed (indoors, sitting still, in the trunk of a vehicle).

  • Check the tracker's location: Make sure the tracker is not obstructed (indoors, in an engine bay, under a seat, or in the trunk of a vehicle). If possible, take the tracker outdoors for a few minutes to receive the optimal cell/GPS signal while the device is turned on.

  • Power cycle the device if needed: Here's a guide on how to power cycle your tracker

By following these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to resolve most tracker location update issues.
